Enough said.

Not really if you're trying to dissuade people from trying it.

Post 3 by roxtar (move over school!) on Monday, 19-Dec-2011 21:44:39

I don't wanna diswade people from trying it out, I'm just disappointed cause i was really looking forward to it.

Post 4 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Monday, 19-Dec-2011 22:08:03

Not that I've tried it, but mainly it's because it's not my style of game. Not that I can really talk seeing as I bought Three-D Veloscity.

Post 5 by CrazyMusician (If I don't post to your topic, it's cuz I don't give a rip about it!) on Monday, 19-Dec-2011 22:10:26

What in the world is it?

Post 6 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Monday, 19-Dec-2011 22:54:59

I believe it's a flight simulator.

If it's got Zero in it, sounds like World War II Aircraft game.

Allow me to advocate for the developer and say that this kind of criticism is crap. You neither elaborate on why you think this game is "crap" nor go into details as to what steps you tried to take to make the game work for you. I've not tried the game myself, so I can with a clear conscience say this is a nonpartisan retort.

It's very well for you to go calling someone else's work crap, but how would you feel if someone else gave your efforts and unequivocal denouncement without evidentiary support?

Have you read and re-read the manual? Have you perhaps watched a demonstration on how to play the game? If any compatibility issues arise, have you attempted to resolve them?

I think it's people like you that convince me day-in and day-out that I'm glad I've never pursued making a game for the blind community. Plenty of people willing and ready to cast dispersion without merit. Plenty of people ready to cast disparity on a product for not fitting their utopian view of software. Plenty of people who, rather than seek a solution or submit constructive criticism, prefer to disparage anything and everything. Plenty of people with an entitlement complex.

I hope you don't someday make a product and then turn around and get discouraged or irritated because someone else came right out and said your efforts were fruitless, because that individual will in essence be you, as you are now.

I was about to say the same kind of thing as Kai here, but as usual, not so eligant.
Seriously, "enough said" doesn't give us a lot to go on especially as I personally hadn't even heard of the game.

Agree with Post 8. Before coming on this site, I thought the blind entitlement mentality was just a myth made up by storytellers and haters. Sad to say it, but I ain't exactly *that* blind ... I can see it now, and this post is just such an illustration.

That, I suppose, is the point I was trying to make in y original reply. He didn't give any reasons to why this game is a piece of crap. It's like those folks who go on Amazon and other places and give a product itself a bad review because it either didn't arrive or was damaged in shipment, when such complaints should be said about the seller, not the actual product. Or they do the whole 'nuff said bit.

Post 12 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Tuesday, 20-Dec-2011 21:36:33

Oh yeah, for sure. I ordered something from Amazon once, a Beatles record actually, and it arrived snapped in half. The guy wrapped it in plastic wrap and then stuffed it in an envelope that was way too small for it. Needless to say the seller got an angry email from me for that one, but it wasn't Amazon's fault, so I said nothing about that in the rating, even though I bet most people would have. But back to the topic, I know nothing about Zero Site, and I clicked on this topic expecting to find an intelligent reason why you think it's crap, but no such luck.

Hi,
Perhaps i assumed a little too much familiarity with zero sight here than existed. With all the hype on the audiogames forum, and other sights, I wrongly assumed that most zoners would know about zero sight.
With that in mind, allow me to defend my position.
First of all, let me say I was really looking forward to this game. I enjoy flight sim style games, and had a reasonably good time with 3d velocity.
I did, in fact, read the manual. I did not, in fact, have any compatibility issues with the game.
What I did discover was a program that was bairly even able to run.
I download the zero sight demo, installed it on my computer, read the manual, and gave it a try.
I had trouble the first few times getting my plane off the ground, but this was expected. After all, the game is a flight sim.
After getting my plane off the runway, I began to discover the problems.
The problems I discovered were many, but let me just rattle off a few.
First off, when you press certain keys, the program completely freezes. The game locks you into full screen mode, and it is therefore impossible to alt ctrl delete out.
I had to restart my computer several times before discovering that you couldn't press certain keys on the f row. I believe it may have been f4 or f9, but I don't remember off hand.
Secondly, the plane gets stuck in the air, and won't crash and end the game, even when the altitude goes to 0. This is an problem for reasons its too obvious to mension.
There also does not seem to be any way to retarget the airport and land the plane.

These reasons are why I said that this game was crap.
I believe, and this is strictly my opinion, that it is irresponsible in the extreme to release software with so many obvious bugs. There are countless posts on the audiogames.net forums discussing these same problems. The developer has posted, acknoledging the problems, and already talking about patching the game.
I hope this clarifies my point here, and I would encourage anyone to try this game and see what you think.
If anybody here has a better experience than I did, please post and let me know if there is something I can do to make this game a better experience.
Also, a comment on the blindness entitlement thing.
I don't think anyone, blind or sighted, would come away from playing this game without feeling seriously jipped.
It's not blindness related entitlement to expect a product that works.
If I were to write a paper, or produce a product, or perform at my job in such a way that my work wasn't satisfactory, my employees, customers, readers, ect., would be completely within their rights to call me on it.
It has absolutely nothing to do with entitlement to review a product honestly, if a bit hastily.
If you buy a new computer that doesn't turn on, you have every right to call someone and ask for some answers. It's got nothing to do with blindness, or any other thing. What it does have to do with, is shitty workmanship.
I wouldn't submit a program of this quality to a computer science 101 class, let alone to the public.
That being said, this is only an internet forum. Take my opinion with a grain of salt. I'm not trying to start a spam war here.

you bashed your own arguement. the developer is going ot release a patch you said. meaning, they know of the problem, and are, maybe, actually trying to fix it. that's what a patch usually does you know.

Post 15 by Dave_H (the boringest guy you'll ever know) on Friday, 23-Dec-2011 16:29:01

A shame you can't remove post #1. The post in which Rockstar makes a combination bug report and review is far more constructive. Does the developer offer a bug tracking facility? Maybe some of these are addressed by patches and/or work-arounds? Maybe you can offer a more-systematic bug report in the tracker?

Post 16 by mistervera (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Friday, 23-Dec-2011 20:42:07

This game is actualy quite good, and makes people think unlike some games. Like every computer game their is going to be some bugs in the first release.
